- SYMPTOMS. Appetite loss, weakness, weight loss and loss of libido. In more
- severe cases symptoms may include: enlargement of the breast (in men), hair
- loss, muscular wasting, enlargement of the spleen and abdominal distention
- caused from collection of fluid.
- CAUSES. In most cases this occurs in middle-aged men from chronic alcoholism
- Other causes may include malnutrition, syphilis, congestive heart failure,
- severe viral hepatitis and biliary tract obstruction.
- TREATMENT. High protein diet, abstinence from alcohol, multivitamins &
- medication.
